Just made it. I substituted coconut milk into evaporated milk and it turned out to be yummy.

greetings from Winnipeg, MB, CANADA!

I tried out this recipe last night. like many others, my pudding didn’t set as firm as I hoped it would be (kind of like jello). after many hours in the fridge, it still wasn’t firm, so I put it in my freezer. it froze well and is like a gelato/ice cream texture and it tastes great! Just a suggestion for those of you who wanted a firmer dessert. :)

Next time i think I will add more cornstarch and less sugar since i found it a little too sweet! It reminds me very much of how my Lola use to make it.

Thanks for this recipe! I used the same measurement for almost all the ingredients but I didn’t use condensed milk because I have no available on hand. I also used one sweetened cream corn and 1 can of corn kernels instead of using all corn kernels because that’s what’s also available on my pantry. It worked well without adding any more corn starch than what is on the recipe. I just really cooked it well until it thickens. I used 2 cans of coconut milk. I’ve noticed that the coconut milk in can is thicker than the normal Gata I would use to buy in the market before when I was still in the Phillipines. Overall I’ve reached the desired thickness and creaminess I want. Thumbs up for the recipe!

Hi Verna, if this is handled properly and kept inside the refrigerator (covered), pwede itong tumagal ng hanggang limang araw. It can extend for a few days more, but it will be safer to keep it until this time.

Rose – sa isang kilong cornstarch, makakagawa ka ng sampung beses ng recipe na ito.

Itong recipe ay nangangailangan lang ng 3/4 cup na cornstarch. Ito ay may timbang na 100 grams.

Can I substitute tapioca starch for cornstarch? Cornstarch doesn’t have anything to offer in terms of nutrients but tapioca does. Just wondering.havent tried your recipe yet.

Yes, tapioca starch is a good ingredient to use for Maja blanca.

Tapioca starch has a higher calcium and iron content compared to cornstarch, but I think that its advantage is its ability to withstand cold. This means that the composition of tapioca starch remains the same even if kept in the freezer. This will make your maja blanca a good candidate for freezing. The consistency should still be the same after you thaw it.
